MBI 05-04: Local Controllers add Depart Gate to Scratchpad

Postby Dudley Whitney » Sat Nov 05, 2005 8:59 am

Local controllers (the first position contacted) shall insert the first three letters of the departure gate in lower case letters in the scratchpad (Insert xxx <asel>) for the aircraft. This will assist the departure controller, who shall clear the scratchpad before handing off to CTR.

Bringing this one back to everyone's attention. LOWERCASE entries in the scratchpad. If they are uppercase, they appear at first glance to be a destination entry, and may not be cleared (overlooked) by the departure controller prior to handoff to Center.

Ed,

So far we haven't simulated the ADIZ fully, although we normally assign discrete beacon codes prior to "cleared into the Class Bravo". Granted, the ADIZ is bigger than the Class B Airspace.

Just to add a comment here, there is no way we could keep up with the procedures. The accuracy of any attempt to simulate the ADIZ could only work against us - imagine:

"But Mr. USSS agent, I simulated this trip on VATSIM before I flew it and everything went ok then."
