MBI 06-14: Avoid excessive time with "Non Active"

Postby Mariano Buitrago » Sun Aug 06, 2006 7:50 pm

In order to comply with VATSIM regulations below, please refrain from connecting to the VATSIM network with non-active callsigns (i.e.: OBS or equivalent) for excessive periods of time. VATSIM does not specify the meaning of "excessive time". Therefore, for ZDC, "excessive time" shall be defined as greater than one hour. ZDC senior management and staff will be enforcing this regulation to avoid noncompliance with VATSIM regulations.

Please note that INS, MTR or other callsigns for staff engaged in administrative duties (ATM, DATM, TA, etc.) are not included in the "non-active" classification.

VATSIM Code of Conduct CoC2-2002 wrote:MEMBERS MAY NOT LOG ON TO THE VATSIM.NET NETWORK WITH NON-ACTIVE CALLSIGNS FOR EXCESSIVE PERIODS OF TIME. NON-ACTIVE CALLSIGNS ARE DEFINED AS CALLSIGNS WHICH ARE UNRELATED TO ANY PILOT, AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL POSITION, INSTRUCTOR OR DESIGNATED STAFF ENGAGING IN ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES. THIS RULE APPLIES TO CUMULATIVE PERIODS OF USE OF ANY TYPE OF NON-ACTIVE CALLSIGN. MEMBERS WHO VIOLATE THIS RULE SHALL BE SUBJECT FIRST TO A WARNING. MEMBERS WHO ARE FOUND TO REPEATEDLY VIOLATE THIS RULE ARE SUBJECT TO THE TERMS OF ARTICLE VI. OF THE VATSIM.NET CODE OF REGULATIONS.
